Heart disease is the leading cause of death in women affecting one out of every three women. This staggering statistic equates to nearly 500,000 women each year – more than the next six causes of death combined. Proceeds from the annual NHRMC Red Dress event will be used to fund community-wide cholesterol screenings, cardiac disease risk assessments and education materials for women. Through these activities we can help women realize it’s never too early to take steps to prevent and control risk factors. Heart disease is preventable and education is the key to helping prevent this terrible disease.
